Hi and thanks for stopping by! I’m Annie, and I’m happy to be blogging again after taking a break for a few years. I am glad to be sharing a project we recently took on- my husband and I are deconstruction and tearing down this dilapidated old house and building a custom, sustainable house on the lot! We are incredibly thrilled, excited, and overwhelmed all at once. We have taken on major remodel projects before, but to start from scratch has been a whole new world.
A major goal for our house is to make it as environmentally responsible and sustainable as possible. We are passionate about healthy homes and healthy environments, responsibly souring materials, fair treatment and compensation of laborers from start to finish, and reducing waste by choosing materials with longevity. We’re also on a budget, so it will take creativity and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears (literally) to pull building this house off! In the next post, I’ll be sharing how we are slowly taking this house apart and how we are disposing of, salvaging, and donating what we can as we disassemble it!
